At the 36th National Town Crier Championships held in Canberra, Kevin delivered a standout performance, taking home four national titles, including Australia’s Loudest Crier, Best Cry, Best Media Campaign, and the prestigious Pat Adamson Memorial Award for Best Regional Ambassador.
Despite challenging conditions — with gusty winds toppling shade shelters and sending tricorn hats flying — Kevin’s dedication and spirit shone through. “I’ve competed in many events over the years, but Canberra’s wind made this one particularly memorable,” Kevin said with a grin.“Crying into the wind was tricky for everyone, but the effort was worth it. The job satisfaction I get from representing Toowoomba and sharing our story with others is incredible.”
Kevin’s “loudest cry” reached 92 decibels on the day — slightly below his usual competition level of over 100 decibels, but still strong enough to defend his title for another year. He previously claimed the same honour in 2018, 2019, and 2023.
As the Toowoomba Region’s official Town Crier, Kevin proudly represents the community at events big and small — from citizenship ceremonies and centenarian birthdays to major festivals and civic celebrations. His booming voice, warm personality, and genuine pride in Toowoomba have made him a much-loved local figure. Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald congratulated Kevin on his outstanding success, commending his enthusiasm and commitment.
“We know Kevin gives 100% at every competition and every appearance he makes,” Mayor McDonald said.“These awards are a well-deserved recognition of his effort and energy. Kevin’s humour, warmth and community spirit make him a fantastic Ambassador for the Toowoomba Region — and now he has the Australian titles to match.
”A proud member of the Toowoomba Referral Group, Kevin brings the same energy and positivity to the group’s meetings and community initiatives as he does to the national stage. His commitment to promoting local pride and supporting fellow Toowoomba professionals makes him an outstanding representative both within TRG and across Australia.
Fresh from Canberra, Kevin’s calendar remains packed. He recently made his traditional appearance at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Grand Central Floral Parade, welcomed guests at a Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games organising committee civic reception, and has a host of community events lined up in the months ahead.
